About Us
Who are we?
We are a family owned and operated private sled dog rescue. Over the past 5 years we have taken in dogs from all over Alaska and provided them a place to live, grow, and thrive. We work with the dogs daily on socialization (both with dogs and people) as well as mushing basics. Some dogs we have rescued were tethered on 1-2 foot 'drop chains' at the beginning of their lives and we are working to give these dogs more space, and time to get used to these more spacious accomodations.
How did we choose our name? Well, as you might guess, a lot of these dogs haven't had it easy...they got sort of a "ruff start". We thought that our name should serve as a reminder of these dogs and the fight they have gone through to be here today as well as those who weren't so lucky. We also take in healthy dogs from people who are either making life changes, kennel changes, or who have no choice but to give up this sport for one reason or another. We have enjoyed the pleasure of educating the youth at North Pole Elementary as well as the Girl Scout Troop in Two Rivers regarding the health and welfare of sled dogs as well as mushing basics.
